Brette Cain
RPN & Director
Brette Cain is a Registered Practical Nurse who began her healthcare career as a Personal Support Worker before earning her Practical Nursing diploma with honours. Recognizing a critical gap in foot care services, she completed the Foot Care Nurse program in 2016 and founded Next Step Foot Care (now Next Step Vitality) to offer specialized basic, advanced and diabetic foot care services, as well as medical injector - specializing in Botox, Dermal Fillers, and Vitamin B-12 injections.
Committed to making foot care accessible for everyone, Brette travels twice a month to remote, fly in First Nations communities north of Timmins. She provides essential care in these underserved areas, where high rates of diabetes and limited resources contribute to serious foot complications. Through years of relationship building and trust, she now has the highest attendance in her program and a waitlist of patients whenever she arrives.
Back home, Brette leads Next Step Vitality’s expansion into wellness and medical aesthetics, bringing luxury-level care to Atikokan while maintaining rigorous sterilization and infection control standards. She also supports the profession by serving as a Licensed Education Provider with Foot Canada Training and leading clinical foot care courses for nurses in the Atikokan–Fort Frances–Thunder Bay region. Brette has authored curriculum materials, instructs at Confederation College, and remains an active member of the Canadian Association for Foot Care Nurses.
Her dedication has been recognized with multiple awards, including the 2016 New Business of the Year at the PARO Enterprising Women Awards and a Business of the Year honour at the 2023 PARO Summit Gala. Brette credits her success to her team and community and remains passionate about ensuring that everyone, regardless of location or circumstance, has access to high quality foot care and wellness services.

Meet Lisa Campbell
RN, CRE, & FCN
Having graduated from Confederation College’s Registered Nursing Program in 2004, Lisa has almost 20 years of nursing experience and has worked in a variety of health care settings throughout her career in Atikokan. As a Certified Respiratory Educator and Smoking Cessation Educator, she helps educate patients in need.
Born and raised in Atikokan, Lisa enjoys the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and camping.
Mindy Cross
RPN & FCN
I graduated from the Practical Nursing Program in 2011 and began my nursing career at Atikokan General Hospital. I took a special interest in long term care where I spent most of my career. I take pride in advocating for residents/patients and providing quality care with a holistic approach. In April of 2025, My career path lead me to advance my education and start a new journey. Joining this team has turned out to be a wonderful experience. The environment offers a client centred approach and values the members of the team. I look forward to continuing to provide care to people in our community!
